"LES BLEUS" E A IMPRENSA IRLANDESA

The World Cup isn’t just about winning – especially not for Ireland supporters who yesterday witnessed a just end to France’s tour de farce.

Outgoing France coach Raymond Domenech said he felt "a great sadness" after Les Miserables failed to qualify from their group, but Ireland supporters welcomed the result, avec plaisir.

After the one-time champions’ dreams were reduced to flambé, former captain Laurent Blanc was chosen to replace Domenech as France coach, but for a team that scored just one goal in the tournament – plus ça change, plus c’est la meme.

And the farce continued when the French sports minister Roselyne Bachelot said: “We are taking note of the indignation of the French people and calling for dignity and responsibility.” Where was the “dignity” and “responsibility” in the wake of Henry’s double handball against Ireland?

Escalettes (presidente da FFF) is horrified at the way France imploded.

They arrived travelling first class on a new Airbus A380. But they will be going back on an older Boeing 737, second class and with no special extras.

Eh, eh, eh...
